Phenomena

Double post today, but here goes.

The last year or so a phenomena called HDR has swept across image sharing websites, forums and the net in general. In image processing, computer graphics, and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI or just HDR) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of luminances between light and dark areas of a scene than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.

To the Human Eye this produces some quite spectaclular images when viewed on a computer screen. I’m no pro at this like for instance Arin Ahnell , Toni_V or Michael (stocks photography), but I do give HDR a go now and then. Here’s a proceced shot from tonight.

Is it real?

Feel free to check it out on Flickr where you can view the image in higher resolution :) And make sure to visit the guys I mentioned above to view their work. Click on their names and enjoy!

A sunset picture… of sorts…

Got my new wheels mounted yesterday and dialed in the suspention today. Went out for a test spin and snapped a picture of the car just for kicks. I imagined it a bit more moody, but i like how this came out.

Epiphyllum

Today I got the chance to shoot something I usually don’t care much for, a flower.  This is a Epiphyllum which actually is a cactus believe it or not.
The Epiphyllum usually blooms at this time a year, but when bloomed, the flower only lasts a day or two. The owner has been wanting a picture of this flower for years but allegedly didn’t dare to take a shot of it because last time she tried the whole plant went ahead and died on her…

Epiphyllum

As mentioned, I don’t care much for flowers, but it was fun to shoot and I think it came out ok. Either way the Epiphyllum must be one of the worlds most beautiful cactuses.

Monumental

I’ve been wanting to do some shots of this car for along while now. I’s a brand new Audi A5 3.0 tdi with a Caractere body kit and some sick 20″ wheels and personally i think it looks Monumental!  The owner and I met at an event hosted by a car supply company yesterday and I was finally able to bag some shots of it. The conditions were far from great with the event being hosted in the parking facilities of a crowded mall and the sun coming out of a clear blue sky.

A5 3.0 tdi

The shot is a composite of 3 different exposures taken with the Canon 10-22 USM with a little vignette added and I’ve done my best to clean up the clutter around the car. Unfortunately, I’m no good at it so you might be better of not clicking the image to view the higher resolution image which is hosted in my flickr photostream.

Good times

With the summer right around the corner I can’t wait to get out shooting some decent shots of my car sporting the new wheels. while waiting i find myself revisiting old pictures of it. I did this today and found a picture from last fall. This was my first time shooting with the Canon 10-22 Wide angle lens and I think I never took it past 10 mm.  Although not ideal from a technical point of view, I think the picture came out good. And more importantly, I had a blast, isn’t that what it is all about?

More Polo Cross

So, I’ve done some post processing on the shots from the shoot with the Polo Cross from the other night.  I wanted a crossover with a high key and high contrast to try to make the car a bit more gritty. Not sure if I succeeded in the latter, but it’s fun to experiment a bit :)

Again, clicking on the photo will bring you to my flickr Photostream where a higher resolution version can be viewed.

Polo Cross

Went out for a small shoot this evening with a Volkswagen Polo Cross.  Wanted to try out my 50 mm prime, but my China Flash triggers acted up and I was forced to change to a 17-70 to get closer. The triggers acting up caused me to loose focus and the composition is all but great. Still, this image came out quite alright.

Wax on, Wax off

Worked on the MkV for most of the day today. Got the fenders rolled, washed the car and finished of by polishing and waxing it.  Got to love the wet look  a car gets from a fresh coat of wax.

I was hoping to take some pictures of it as well but I was absolutely shot after all the waxing so I didn’t have any energy left to be creative. Only snapped a couple of shots and this one came out on top.

Time Warp

Now, the two hosts of Discovery Channels new series Time Warp are officially my new heroes!

Together MIT scientist and teacher Jeff Lieberman — along with digital-imaging expert Matt Kearney — uses new technologies to bring truly never-before-seen wonders into a form that the human eye can actually process. Photography might be all about capturing the moment but shooting at up to 10000 frames per second these guys up the ante and capture all the moments so to speak.

Using the latest in high-speed photography combined with great lighting the Time Warp team takes some natural events (a cat licking its paw, a champagne bottle being opened) — and some not-so-natural (a water balloon to the face, a raw piece of chicken exploding) — and turns them into a thing of both beauty and learning.

Check out the images below and do try to catch the show whenever it airs at Discovery in your area :)

New Design

As you might have noticed the blog have changed a bit since you last visited.
Ever since I started the blog I’ve been wanting it to be more flexible than the blog-template my web-host offered. I’ve looked around for some blog engines and nice layouts and settled for WordPress and a template from Graph Paper Press .

Originally the layout looked like the one below, but I’ve done some changes, better suiting my taste.  I’ve also changed it so that it should match my portfolio page.

As I have done some changes to the code in this layout without really beeing skilled in html/css-editing ther might be some minor bugs here and there. Please report any bugs you come across to me and I’ll try to correct them.

I’ve managed to import most of the posts from my previous blog, but unfortunately not all of them. Any comments made to older posts was also lost. Sorry.

I’ve also decided to try to blog in English so that all of my contacts now can follow my blog and understand whatever i might have a rant about.  English is of course not my native language so spelling and grammar mistakes might occur (they do when i write in Norwegian to, so that really isn’t an excuse )

Anyways, I hope you all like my new design, feel free to leave a comment! Have a nice day :)

Linselus
