Another Crazy week
So it has been some time since my last post where I said I had had a crazy week, Guess what? This week has also been crazy ;)
I’ve just returned from a 7 day roadtrip to Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. Some friends and I decided to go to the AutoNews Treffen 2009 which takes place in the town of Reifnitz by the Wörthersee lake in Austria. AutoNews, Gti-treffen or the Wörthersee-tour as it is also called was held for the 28th time in really pictorial surroundings and draws a huge amount of modified Volkswagens and Audis from all over Europe. All the cities arond the Wörthersee lake is litterally invaded by all the cars and there is people absolutely everywhere.
I’m sure I snapped about 1500 pictures, but with the sun gleaming from a cloudless sky the conditions for taking pictures could have been better. Take the huge crowd in consideration and you can forget about getting any cover shots. But I’ll try to post some even though…
I’ll start of with a couple of shots from our trip down. The first is of a random Volkswagen Scirocco we passed an the Autobahn on our way down. The picture is taken while traveling at about 120 km/t and the lady driving it must have thought we were crazy hanging out the window of my car just to take her picture ;)
The picture below is of my friends Volkswagen Golf Gt whom we traveled with. The picture is taken at dawn while driving at the foot of the Swiss alps. The light was fading rapidly and hanging out of the window at about 100 km/t I didn’t have much time to really compose the picture, but it still came out ok ;)
That’s it for now, I still have a ton of pictures to look through and I’ll try to post some of them as soon as I can :)
Crazy week, Crazy lights
Boy, the last couple of weeks has been crazy busy with stuff happening both at home and work. No time for anything really, so when Sunday came and I had a couple of hours to spare I went out and nursed my other hobby, the previously posted Volkswagen Golf.
I gave it a thorough clean, inside and out and got my front lamps tinted.
Naturally I had to bring out the camera and make sure to capture it “on film”. This picture is actually a HDR-picture like in the one in this post. In the previous one I’ve exaggerated the HDR-effect, something I didn’t want to do in this one. I wanted the picture to look like a “real” photo but seeing as the lighting on site was terrible I took three different exposures to catch as much detail as possible. The three exposures are shot handheld after being inspired by Pete Leong who captures some really great handheld HDR’s.
Check out his flickr photostream or his website here. Don’t forget to click the picture of my car to view it larger as well.
Ashes To Ashes
The last week has been a hard one. Sadly, my girlfriends grandmother passed away the other day and the family wanted me to take some pictures during the funeral.
I must say, this was one of the single most hardest things I’ve actually done. Seeing how I also knew the deceaced and the family I wanted to approach the whole thing with as much respect and caution as possible. You can’t imagine how loud the sound of the camera shutter sounds inside a church. This in mind you don’t want to act all paparazzi inside the church with the family gathered in silence to mourn.
After taking some shots of the decoration inside the church and a couple of pictures of the family I packed up my gear and put it back in the car.
When the ceremony was over and the family started leaving the grave I got my camera back out and shot some of the decorations at the grave. The shot below was the one that came out the best and I am only publishing it as it is not to personal for the family.
In Loving memory of Solveig Johanne Johansen.
Sneak Preview
Here’s a little sneak preview on a project I’m working on. A client saw one of my earlier pictures of a Jada Toys die-cast Volkswagen pickup and wanted something similar to frame and use for his sons bedroom. He supplied me with another Jada Toys 1/24 scale Volkswagen bus and told me to have a go at it. I’ve since then acquired yet another model and will be shooting the three of them separately for framing.
I set up the studio yesterday and brought out the models. Here’s one of the outtakes.
The color on the red bus is a bit off and I’m still not happy with the way it looks against the black backdrop. So I will be shooting it again tonight.
As always, clicking the picture will open my flickr photostream where the picture is available in high resolution
